Kitepower & NWO/TTW Take-off grant for VTOL
Next to the simple and robust, flexible kite system, Kitepower is also developing a rigid wing with vertical take-off and landing capabilities (VTOL). The first prototype has been thoroughly tested in the TU Delft Cyberzoo and has had its first outdoor flight at Valkenburg in February 2018. Kitepower, together with the Airborne Wind Energy research group at TU Delft, was awarded the NWO/TTW Take-off grant for further development of this wing. For larger systems (>500 kW) the aerodynamic efficiency of a rigid wing is paramount.
