MSc Internship: Influence of Lightning on Airborne Wind Energy Operation

Kitepower systems operate with a synthetic tether at an altitude range of 100-300 m. Due to safety precautions, the kite is now landed when lightning is detected or predicted in the surroundings. But lightning can not always be predicted. Therefore we would like to further investigate the influence of lightning on our system and learn more about the precautions that can be taken to reduce the effect on its operability.
